Vacuum Testing Question
Sorry if this sounds stupid, BUT I have one of those mighty vac thingamjigs that looks like a pliers and has a vacuum gauge on top of it. It's a metal one, not the plastic type. It is used for pulling a vacuum or for bleeding brakes and I wondered if it can be used as a gauge to measure vacuum or if it will damage it. I want to hook it up on the side of my factory stock Rochester carburetor to see how much vacuum I have at idle and if the fitting I am using is ported or manifold vacuum. I don't have a vacuum gauge and wondered if this thing could be used for that purpose?

It will work for the purpose too. Just connect it to the port you want to measure and start the car. It will show how much vaccum your car is creating. Pretty neat tool. I have used mine to just this job.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I knew it could be used to create a vacuum pull but didn't know if it could have vacuum applied to it and measure it.
I will try it tomorrow.
