I STILL think it was a bad 'run' of pistons. It DOES happen, just ask Firestone tires!
Firestone's truck tire problem wasn't a "bad run," it was a long-time design flaw. My mom had one disingrate on a new S-10 Blazer with less than 10k miles in 1984. The tire shop guy knew exactly what brand they were after my dad told him what happened. That was, what...12 years before the media firestorm? The details are an entirely different issue...but it wasn't just a "bad run" of tires.
I also need to ask my engine builder if he know what he's talking about, cause I sure don't on this subject. He's the one who told me they should be around 80 Rockwell.
Thanks guys for trying to help. Glenn
I thought you said quite a while ago that he would be history.
Firestone also had a similar big issue back in the late sixties.
They are consistant.
Notice that none of the tires that ever caused trouble were "P" rated tires - they were all "LT"s. When my dad bought his pickup new in 88 (special order) he told the ordering dealership that he wouldn't take it if it had Firestone tires on it - and it was even specified on the order pad. Guess what came on it? He made the dealership swap the wheels and tires with another new truck on the lot that came with Goodyears.
I like Cooper tires for light truck applications. And I love my Firehawk Indy 500s.
OK...back to your regularly scheduled engine nightmare.

I did. But it's hard to change in mid stream. Since this is 'his' motor, he is fixing the problems without any further charges to me minus parts. If money was NOT such an issue, I could afford to go anywhere, but I'm trying to do a $1,000 job on a $50 budget, so to speak. He is good, but I'm loosing my faith in his abilites as more and more things keep happening to my motor. Just don't know what to do or where to go anymore, so I'm kind of stuck here. Don't hate me for being so weak,...it's just that my wife is so strong! Glenn

Blood Money
I thought we ALL paid with blood. Every time I go out into the garage, no matter how little a job it is, I come back in with blood leaking from somewhere. It's become a running joke with my wife and friends, like a vampire requiring it's dose of blood every day. Glenn
