Well its been four years since I bought my 74 corvette as a restoration project. I was 18 at the time and now being 22 ive finally decided its sit in my dads shop too long gathering dust. Its time for the car to be restored and im looking forward to the many adventures I will encounter brining this car back to life. The C3 corvette has easily been the automobile ive lusted after for as long as i can remember. I cant wait to get this project started. My dad and i have restored a couple of other classic cars together and its such a great experience. Cant wait to get this one finished. I can just see it now: bright red paint glistening in the sun, T-tops off, radio playing some classic tunes...............Can't wait
Enjoy the project but do not make the mistake of flying into a full blown restoration without doing your homework. Lots and lots of prep work and planning to do before you begin disassembly. If you don't already have the '74 assembly instruction manual (AIM) order one and read through it before you begin. Wouldn't hurt to have an owner's manual handy.

Should be lots of fun tearing into one and rebuilding it. Hopefully you will have a lot more room than I had when I was tearing mine up. I have been working on mine for around 5 years or so and I still have a few things I want to do to make it better. Its one of those never ending projects. They are lots of fun and worth it in the end.
I too have started my adventure in the world of owning my dream Vette. I purchased my 82 Vette about a week ago. I started ordering this and that to make it my Vette. Well then it came, with all the parts starting to come in I noticed the Vette was shifting different. Dropped the tranmission pan today and found how the magnet in the bottom works. Metal shavings and pieces and black gunk. Oh well she even looks good up on jack stands. Down in the dumps, tomarrow is another day.

As long as your frame, birdcage, etc... are rust free the other fixes are reasonable. It's a classic. It will always need something, but sounds like you have a great start. Keep it up and eventually it will be everything you always dreamed of. Even the new ones have problems. Go look at the C5 and C6 sections someday. The good thing is you can work on C3s yourself!!!
