Default New spreader bar installed

Thanks to CAGregK for selling the bar in the parts forum.
I got it yesterday and installed it last night ... and did some sanding and fiberglassing.
Here are some pics. Please ignore my cheesy crimped wiring, sanding dust,
and dirty/rusty engine.

Was this a prewelded bar? They do make a difference it he cars handling, seems to make the front end tighter.

Looks like a prewelded one, the one I installed for a friend was not pre welded and came with pretty ugly weld on brackets, basically sections of angle iron (that were not even 90 deg but crooked) that you had to weld on, there were no rod end spacers supplied (not that they're necessary but the bar in Dave's pics does have them) and the tabs are much shorter than what you see there, making it impossible to mount the bar in front of the cross shaft stud. Needless to say I fabbed him some new brackets from scratch that also lowered the bar to clear his march overdrive pulleys. There's no way the weld it yourself kit will fit with those pulleys.

Looks like a pretty straightforward bolt-in, no? Tell us about the handling improvements!

Yes - pre-welded assembly as delivered from VBP.
The brackets are long enough to clear the stud with zero shims (I have 1/16" in front).
I cannot attest to handling differences. I'm still tweaking some stuff
before I get inspection sticker. Also, C5 wheels and aftermarket
coils/bars have never been experienced yet.

I added the bar mainly to help hold the front suspension out at the top.
Even with the front shims at basically nothing, I am barely at zero camber.
So, I'm hoping to get a bit more positive camber with the spreader bar
pushing out .... or at least no less than I have now. I already have an
offset control arm shaft in the right side upper ... barely enough.

So, once I get my passenger door on again and passenger seat mounted,
I will be going for inspection sticker.

I have plenty of room to move the bar back such that the rear support
bracket will become the front. Also, I would like to shorten the bracket
since it is not over the stud after moving. Additionally, I feel that the
long piece needs strengthening ... at least some gussets in the bracket corners.
For now, I am happy to simply bolt it in.
