When I had the dash out to do the pedals I removed all the A/C duct work and got the correct wiper switch bezel that says "C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E" instead of having A/C ducts there. I also replaced my A/C controller with a rebuilt non-A/C controller from Zip's. I also very "neatly" fastened the right passenger side footwell fresh airdoor so I have continuous air flow into the car. The defroster, vent and footwell airflow works just like a non-A/C car does. Only difference I have is not having those two cable operated doors, but, like I said, I fastened one permanently open anyways. Yeah, I spent some money on the non-A/C controller & non-A/C heater core & cover, but what I sold of all the A/C for I wasn't out that much money. It looks so stock and neatly done, 97% of people that have looked at the car don't even realize that it "used to have A/C".
You've described EXACTLY what I'm wanting to do. I'm slowly starting to accrue the parts I need. I've been watching e-bay for the different parts I need. The piece with CORVETTE across it above the wiper switch is a pricey little SOB. I'll eventually get the outer and inner heater box halves and the proper control for the console. I'm hoping to make a few bucks also selling the A/C parts from my change out. So far, I haven't cut or ruined anything, it's all came apart just fine.

I'll eventually sell the whole thing at once, or part the various pieces one at a time. Hopefully this will help me off set the cost of the parts I'm getting now.

I popped over and looked real quick. Only found two with limited search. $80.00 and $89.00 (buy it now). The $89 has a real nice pic. Auction #4598825773 A/C vent delete bezel. I'll turn up a not so nice one that needs repainted or something for 20 or 30 dollars and use that one. Always searching for a better deal.....

Aw right, just won a heater only control. $22.00! I've been out of town all weekend, just stepped into the house, this was the first thing I checked. It comes with the console mount that has the two vent levers in it. Although it just occoured to me, when I want to use this one, I'll have to get a new console plate that has the two slots cut in it for the levers. Dang! Two steps forward, one step back......oh, well.

i just got rid of the whole sistems, both a/c and heater with full ancillaries, for the heater i gave the job to somebody well trained, the job was definitely too complicated for me (also to build a proper alu firewall beetwin the engine bay and the passenger area...)

Yeah, there's a lot of little details. But only a couple have really caught me by suprise. Since I simply have to keep the heating system, I don't have the luxury of a complete delete. But so far I still think the advantages of heater only (at least for me) are still worth the small problems that have cropped up.

All I really need to come up with now is the interior half of the heater box. Everything else I need is re-popped, or at least is a little easier to find. Once I come up with the heater box half I need, I'll be far enough in to start selling parts, and that should free up a few bucks for other parts I need.

Yes indeed, I've got the compressor pulled, the condensor...well basically everything under hood with the exception of the evaporator/fan box. I've already brought a heater only box to replace the evaporator box. The major item I've yet to find is the interior heater only box/half of the heating system. If I'm dragged kicking and screaming into the situation, I'll modify my heater-A/C interior box to work as heater only, but I'd MUCH rather bolt a heater only box in. There will be a few tweaks like the astro-vent vacuum lines, but I'll just have to deal with them. I've got a lot of time to look and gather, but yes the a/c is definately on it's way out, a simple, stock as possible heater only systems on it's way in.

I'm pulling the engine out Monday or Tuesday to deal with some problems that have cropped up. (not engine related) I expect to be able pull the evaporator by the end of next week. I have no idea what a used ones worth, but I'll happily pop it in a box and send it your way. I'd like to see someone get some use out of it, and I'll sure put that vent delete bezel to good use!

Bob, I sent you my address, but I don't feel right just taking the bezel. I'll include some $ with the shipping. It's certainly worth something! I KNOW what you could get on e-bay! And I really do appreicate the offer.
