Back about 10 yrs ago, I bought my first C3. As with most other older cars, it had its moments of being undependable and wifey got stranded too many times. She called it the "B!tch" and refused to every ride it again. I finally ended up selling the car and the first words out of my wife's mouth was "Why did you sell your Vette. I thought that you liked it." I was really pizzed.
Long story short is that I really felt foolish letting someone other than myself make the decision since deep in my heart I knew what was the best choice for me. About 3 yrs ago I found another cherry C3 and bought it on the spot without "consulting" wifey. Brought it home and have never heard a chirp from my better half. Guess she also realized it truely was my decision not hers.
No brainer for me. I do not like the styling on the C6 and was never enamored of the C5s from the trailing edge of the doors on back. I will admit my appreciation of the C5s has grown a tad after the C6s came out.
I don't like/want the newer cars, so I'd keep the C3.
yeah, butt ugly you say.... uhhh ok...makes me sick too
To me it is personal preference. If you can find a new Vette you like as much as it seems you like your C3 go for it but will that make your wife happy?
If you can at all squeeze it out, keep the C3 and spend a little less on a slightly older C5 - especially if your C3 is already paid off. You might be happy with a C5, but you’ll regret selling your C3.
First off, my wife bought me my C3 1980! Yes, she is a keeper. She is also thinking of buying me an 07 ZO6. My garage is rather large along with the RV garage next to it that I plan to install a lift since we sold the RV that just sat 99.999% of the time. I would suggest keeping the c3 and getting the new one also. I assume you have a 2 car garage and her car is parked on the other side. Most likely a BMW or Lincoln town car. Both of which could stand to be parked outside in all weather! 2 vettes and one wife.. Way cool!
