Default Writer Needed for VETTE Magazine

Primedia is seeking an associate editor to work on VETTE and High-Performance Pontiac magazines. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ writing experience, general automotive knowledge (specific knowledge of GM performance vehicles preferred), and an associate’s degree in a related field (bachelor’s preferred). Photography skills are a plus but not required. The ability to work independently with a minimal degree of supervision is paramount.

Job duties include developing feature and technical articles, coordinating and writing magazine departments, editing copy, and performing various other tasks as directed by the magazines’ editors. Some travel is involved.

The position is based out of Primedia’s Tampa, FL editorial office. Compensation depends on qualifications and includes a full benefits package.

To be considered, please submit a résumé, cover letter, and writing sample(s) to vette@primedia.com, using “Associate Editor” in the subject line. No phone calls, please.

For more information on VETTE and High-Performance Pontiac, please visit www.vetteweb.com and www.highperformancepontiac.com.

Sounds like a good deal. I been reading the vette mags for years and pointing out the inaccurate procedures listed in a lot of the articels on the C2 and C3's. I can write, take pictures, and know how to rebuild vettes, what else do you need?

Is the position for immediate hire? I will be graduating with a Major in Public Relations and double Minor in Marketing and Journalism in May 07. I do not have two years of field experience, but my transcripts will show that I got an A in every composition class I was enrolled in. I can provide samples of project/class work however, I have no "real" work to show.

No offense, but they'd probably want correct grammar usage for starters.

I'm thinking 69Myway (chris). He is a writer in Florida and hell, he even wrote his own book.
I remember also that he is considering a career change anyway. You guys should PM him and check out his homepage:

I have been wondering the same thing. I really enjoyed Vette when he was there. I think he is writing for some exotic supercar magazine.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't know anywhere near enough on the subject & my only experience of the publishing industry was being a centrefold one month!!!! Besides, the commuting would be a problem

When I last spoke to Randy he was Editor in Chief of Vintage Motorsports. He spent some time as Editor of Sports Car International but left them a few years ago to join Vintage. I think he is doing some photography work as well.

I miss his SCI days. He always had some really cool cars in his garage for test rides.

I loved Vette magazine when Randy was Editor. One of the reasons I sold my '89 IROC-Z and bought my '80 Corvette.
