Default 1970 Price help

I am usually in the C1/C2 area, but I just happended across a very low milage (53xxx) 1970 300hp auto 2 top roadster. The car is Orange (Corvette Bronze) with black interior. Original engine and trans. It is a no hit with mostly original paint, paint being a 8 out of 10 and interior a 9 out of 10. Everything works. The soft top is nice with no rips. The hardtop paint is a little dull. The car has Power steering and power brakes AM/FM radio, Rally wheels.
It has the spare tire tub. Over all it is a very nice car.
I have no photos and I am not sure of the price yet.
What is it worth?

TIA

from Corvette Magazine:

Show ready:49,000
good:31,000
Average:25,000
Needs TLC:15,000

*Add 1500 for 350/350
add 10,000 for LT1
Add 7,000 for 454
Add 1500 for A/C
Add 900 for hard top.

The auto brings it down in desirability vs a 4 spd. Depending on the price of the car, it could be a few thousand difference.

I would guess about 18 - 19K (the color is not the most desireable) but it does have a lot of good things going for it. The year especially being very good (low production #s, last year high compression).

I have the same value guide from Corvette magazine referenced a couple of replies above. I think the values are high but as an owner of a 71 LT-1 Vert, I hope im wrong. Good luck

I agree the value guide is a little high but IMO, it's a little higher than pchmotoho put it at.

I would say that this car is somewhere between "Average" and "Good" and is probably worth 20 to 22K and that would assume a clean frame and no birdcage rust.
Even still, if you pay to have a nice paint job put on it and make everything else perfect, you would then have more in the car than it is worth. If you are intending to do that and wish to be able to not have more in it than it's value, you need to get it somewhere in the mid teens. If you do all the work yourself, you might be able to come out on it at around at that 18-19K. Make the car look new inside and out and it's worth $30K

Rust would change everything!

I do not think that anyone is understanding my description. This car is a survivor. It has not been restored, it does not need to be restored. It has the original weatherstrip in place as well as the original interior parts. I know that the color is not the most desirable and it is not a high option, HP car, but it is original and quite nice at that.

Thanks oWEN

I would say somewhere between $13K -$18K. The main thing to consider is whether the car has ALL the original pieces or if you will have to buy some replacement parts. If the latter, discount accordingly....new replacement parts are not cheap! If all of the parts are there, everything works and the carpet doesn't need to be replaced, the upper teens is not out of reason.

70 vert survivor? I would say around 30K as you described.

I have a beautiful 70 Coupe that I recently did a frame on resto and repaint. Have about 25 grand in it. Have seen similar cars for sale in the 25 to 35 range.

Owen,

Here's a link to my '71 unrestored B/B 4 spd. roadster with 55,000 miles. Original paint, interior, carpet, soft-top, etc. My paint would not be an 8...probably a 5 at best. Just curious, how does the '70 compare?

Dave,

Your car is very nice looking. The one I am looking at is about par with yours.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to take some photos of it.

I saw it too. It is almost identical to mine. It was for sale last year too. It has a lot of 70 only pieces. I seen it had the 70 only tail pipes. Which I seen go for 600 alone.

You must have got there after I left. I looked for your car in my countless go rounds. Do you mean the tips or the pipes?

The tips.

I was parked right behind the Meguire's Truck from Thursday till Today. You probably did not see me today because of the huge crowd looking at the cars on either side of me. I had a Grand Sport replica on one side and a blown 70 next to me. It was the black one with the air ride and the front and back are from a 74 or newer.
