I decided to run my car today at the Super Chevy Sunday event at the local track. It is the first time I ran my blown 79. What a bad day. With street tires my first run was a 13.59. I had a .315 reaction time (horrible) my top speed was 108 MPH. I am not sure of my 60' I left my time slip in the car. My second time run I did a better burn out. When I left it still spun the tires. I made it about 30' and let out and she broke loose. It went right, left, the spun across the other lane into the gaurd rail. It was like riding on ice. Body damage isn't too bad. I will get some pics. I bent the rt rear wheel. I put the spare on and it looks slightly pushed back. Also the rt front wheel is pushed it on the bottom. So tomorrow I have to put it on the lift and see what I bent. I am hoping to have it back together and painted in 2 weeks. It is going to be a bunch of late nights. So I learned I need good tires on the car if I plan on racing again.
Sorry to hear about your luck, at least you werent hurt. Good luck getting her back on the road and if you need any rear end stuff let me know I have a 74 parts car and if it interchanges will do what I can to help out.
That is my nightmare!! Not what happened to you, but lining up next to someone like you... I mean having the other guy crash into me. Not being mean, I just worry more about what I can't control than what I at least "think" I can control. Anyway, glad noone was hurt and hope the vette can be fixed up without too much trouble.
I was at Maple Grove a few weeks ago and a 55 chevy was running against a 60 Vette. The 55 did a wheel stand that stayed all the way up until half track. At that point he started to drift toward the center line and nearly hit the Vette. Thankfully he left off and saved the collision that seemed eminant.
