I'm a little confused about the replacement parts I'm seeing in all the catalogs for console data plates.
I have a 73 L82 (with correct serial numbers, VIN reflects L82, etc) and the original data plate on the console shows 285 ft-lbs torque (as it should). The replacements in the catalogs show the 73 L82 data plate with 350 ft-lbs torque.
Can anyone verify that the correct data plate should read 285 ft-lbs and that the catalogs have the incorrect information?
I can't verify the torque numbers, but you say your original plate reads 285. I'd go with my original and chalk it up to the catalogues being incorrect. Wouldn't be the first time the catalogues erred in using the one-size-fits-all approach.
