Default Spray Can

I finally got the motor out of my 81. I want to spray the engine bay. Can anyone recommend a good spray to use? Also, do I need to use a spray primer first? I plan on using my pressure washer first to remove all the oil & grease. Thanks.

I use the Purple Power they sell at the auto store and then the pressure washer, clean as a babys butt. A primer coat would be good, but not absolutely necessary, use it. Then whatever color you want, they even have Speckle Paint in the color to match your body paint if you like.

I have found spray Krylon semi-flat black works well for this.
Walmart carries it. Don't use the Rust Tough, it's not near as good covering as the regular Krylon.

I don't use primer and have had no problems with coverage or adhesion.

It is important to have the surfaces clean, de-greased and dry.

I don't know if you can get it anymore, but gm reconditioning paint looks really nice, just like factory.
