Default Motor Mounts - Big Block

I saw in Dr Rebuild that there are some 'V' shaped spacers for a BB Motor Mount. It said these are to prevent heat transfer from motor to mount and to level the carbs... Can any of ya'll offer more input on this? Do I need to get these - as I have never had issues before and all seemed to fit.

I do have one broken mount - so I am open to new technologies in motor mounts.

hi ..

I think ... the spacers are used on AC equipped BB cars.
You may want to get other opinions on this ..

AFAIK the 'V' spacer was only used on AC cars. As for motor mounts, I tore stock mounts constantly. Switched to energy suspension poly mounts and haven't managed to tear them.

I have Energy Suspenion Poly mounts which they claim is stronger than the solid mounts but ride like the rubber ounts. I havn't any problems with them so far after a couple years.

Zwede/Corey - I will check those out on the web.
Yes - I heard A?C as well - mnaybe that was my bad. I am not opposed to teh mounts suggested - so you say they do not vibrate your teeth out?

Corey - that Red vert is sweet!

So - what do the V spacers do for the A/C ????

I think the shims are used to reposition the engine where the fan does not hit the shroud.

It also keeps the carb leveled off so you don't get bad fuel sloshing.

Maybe the extra weight from the AC components is the culprit ???

The spacers were used on air conditioned equipped cars. The spacers raise the front of the engine to maintain the correct attitude for the carburetor fuel level. The additional weight of the a/c compressor and condensor caused the front of the car to sit a little lower.

I checked out Energy Suspensions. THey have an entire poly kit and another body mount kit and of course the motor mounts. The guy I spoke with just started and so I knew what he knew - but he basically said the Black color is impregnated with graphite and squeaks the least. All depends upon proper intsallation - and heat can tear them down (damn - black Big Block in Houston Texas)..... so - I was hoping to go the red to add a little pizazz - but seems like I may have to do black. I just do not want squeaks

Also - he mentioned tranny mounts - would that really give me something - or is that just gonna shake my teeth out.

I have the E.S. Red polly bushings on my car and greased the living hell out of them and no sweaks that I can hear, then again I have a side mount BB. . The red adds a little color (not obnoxious IMO) to the all black. I purchased mine from Summit.
