Default 82 rearend problem

When on the gas hard, around a corner, I’m getting a ratcheting vibration that resonates through the car. Obviously coming from the rear-end. This is of particular annoyance since less then a year ago I dropped a wad of cash having the rear-end rebuilt. Any ideas what's causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks much - Yancey

Could be the clutches in the rearend or maybe a u-joint on one of the halfshafts. Does it do it when turning slowly right or left? Maybe they didnt add the lubrication additive to the rearend.

Ask the mechanic if he added the GM limited slip additive
If not it can feel like the rear is falling apart

Default Hmmmm..

Steve - now that I think about it, I seem to notice it more during turns to the left. Matter of fact..it also seems to be worse on left hand turns, hard on the gas, when the road has a bit bank the wrong way (as in road is a little bit higher on the inside of a left hand turn).

I'll also give the guy that did the work a call and find out if the additive was added.

Thank you both for the replies!

About 12 years ago, my 80 did the same thing. I was on a visit to see my dad in Las Vegas and the first day I was there, it started. I took it to 3 places and the trans shop thought it was the trans. (duah). The next guy thought it was the rear end, then I went to the dealer and they said to leave it a few days and they would figure it out. I drove back to Northern California and the next day, I left it at my regular service shop. I got a call within the hour stating that my u-joints in the 1/2 shafts were bad. All were replaced and no more problem. At that time, the car had about 50k easy miles on it.
Good luck.

I'd inspect the u-joints while you are under there.
