I just bought this replacement battery cable and it is not like the original. What is the smaller black wire for? I know the big wire get's grounded to the frame near the crossmember, but the small one?????
I can't be sure but for one thing, the main cable looks entirely too small in diameter. The little wire is an auxiliary ground line. It's certainly not for an early C3.
Have a look at the battery cables for C3's in Lectric Limited's web site catalog. They sell duplicate original battery cables for Corvettes. See if the cable they sell looks like yours.
I bought a engine block to frame cable not too long ago from them. It was about aa long as the cable you pictured. $38 !!!! Copper has become very expensive lately.
Someone else asked the same question a couple weeks back. It must be some kind of "universal" cable they sell now. Neither of mine have it (71', 78')
