It was not an accident. How can you make a claim? It was your own negligence.

He had a collision with a curb, hence collision.

How he did that much damage from hitting a curb is beyond me, though.

You should be able to show them ads for comparable vehicles and prove that your car was worth far more than $2500.

Not yet, they are calling me friday.I talked to a Vette adjustor and he said probably worth $7000 but will look at it next week. I was pulling into a 7-11 parking spot when I hit the curb. I'm used to front wheel drive 4 cly. cars with short hoods, not a vette with a long hood. I mis-judged where the curb was.My driving record is pretty clean, last speeding ticket was in college in 1989. I was in the middle of nowhere out past Yeehaw Junction and my speedometer broke. It still read 55 when I pulled over, The cop didn't care. The fastest I've had the vette was 75 on I-95.I bought it for the look not the speed.

What caused the damage was a tow bar on the front that the PO had put on it. I hadn't removed it yet. I hit the sidewalk almost straight on catching the pass. side 1st, which bent the frame.

have you considered telling the insurance to forget the claim and fixing it yourself?

Considering the future cost of insurance after a claim you might come out better that way.

I can't imagine the frame is that bent for that type of accident.

I don't see how that coulda bent the frame, unless it's rusted to hell, in which case it shouldn't be on the road anyways.

Maybe it just dinged up some suspension parts or the crossmember?

Default No Limits

NO LIMMITS / RESTIRICTIONS
i dont think of the following as "RESTRICTIONS" more like common sense & realistic, cant take it to work daily, the mall is out, etc.........not only for parades or shows, can cruise anywhere with no miles limmit, even leave it at a repair shop as long as it is "LOCKED UP INSIDE" but must must must have a clean record, and proof of an insurance policy for another auto. Car must be garaged / cheaper if at your home rather then storage facility. They are also very polite, easy to work with, and well versed with what they are doing, extreemly professional, & "NO" i'm NOT an employee~ just a satisfied customer........AGREED VALUE ZERO DED ONLY WAY TO GO...........hard enough to get GEICO, ALLSTATE, STATE FARM , LIBERTY to pay on a "NORMAL CLAIM " i wouldnt trust any of them with a "SPECIALTY ITEM" just my thoughts........hope you make out a...ok........!!

What makes you think you can't drive it to the mall? I have Hagerty insurance on my Vette, and they never mentioned that it couldn't be driven and temporarily parked ANYWHERE. I also just went to their website and I can't find that limitation. However, if this is a limitation, I need to know. I often drive my children to the mall on weekends. if the weather is nice I often take the Vette. I never dreamed it might not be covered.

Please explain.

Read your policy, Haggerty doen't want you to ever leave the car unattended. Malls, grocery stores seem like a no no to me.

Or you could give Hagerty a call, they will explain things alot better than getting a little bit from each person that feels like posting.

they do NOT want it left unattended in a high traffic public area like a parking lot.....i just said mall as an example, others make it sound like there are all kinds of "RESTRICTIONS" but i can assure you they are all reasonable ones.............that was told to me by my agent, maybe not posted, but living in NY i would never ever ever let my baby out of my site...................!!!
Driving to the "MALL" is one thing, leaving it there & going shopping is another, i don't care what state your in..........if it's hot ride it's not going to be there when you get out , and if your wondering where it is or where it went or what happened , you dont deserve collector insurance, stick with geico, state farm, & allstate, &&&&& PROGRESSIVE they allow you to leave your car anywhere !!! & look for an excuse not pay !!!![/B]

From what people mention on CF and other sites, Haggerty seems to change their wording occasionally. However, most of it points out it is not a car for work, normal errands, and such. Limited leisure driving, car shows, parades, club events, etc. are the intended usage.

From what I have heard: The "do not leave unattended" issue has been modified, as going to a car show is leaving it unattended. Also, the "in your locked garage" has been modified in order for you to go to car shows more than a day away that last for more than a day.

A couple of them avoid the issue by stressing it is a "collector car", which traditionally means it sits in a collection, gets shown occasionally, maybe paraded some, and never gets normal driving duties. This lets them decide afterward what is or isn't collector use when you call for a claim.

Other than Jay Leno, when is the last time you saw someone taking a Duesenberg for a trip to the grocery or something similar. Jay Leno has so much money, if something happened, financially, it would be like you dropping a couple of pennies out of your pocket.

And the insurance would pay anyway. Can you imagine the Tonight Show monologue if they didn't?

One of the local shows I was at last year, one of the Cobra kit guys was talking about how his insurance hassled him over a fender bender when he was hit going into a K-Mart or WalMart or whatever. However, that is where the show was.

I know a guy who asked about taking his Corvette to visit his elderly parents on his regular trip once a week or every other week. Trip is something like 100 or 150 miles round trip. Insurance said that wasn't a leisure drive.

I know, not taking it to the mall is a bummer, after all, that's where Sears is.

Based on the above, I think I have an "agreed" value policy if a total loss (stolen and not recovered, etc.)
That is not an "agreed value" policy. "Agreed Vlaue" would say "Total loss - $15,000.00 (or whatevr number you tolds them the car was worth on your application). Key words in your pargraph above are "lesser of" and all the "or" loopholes.
