Progressive really screwed me
How he did that much damage from hitting a curb is beyond me, though.
Message: I hit a curb in my 1980 Corvette, doing about $5500 worth of
damage (Bent frame, cracked fenders, damaged suspension). I have full
coverage. Progressive is going to total my Corvette and give me $1500. I'm
being told that $1500 is book value on my car. I am feeling cheated here.
A below average 1980 corvette is worth over $6000, and mine was about
average ($7000 - $9000). I talked to other Corvette owners at Corvette
Forum and they agree with me. You can check out their replies at

Is there anything you can do to help me?
I should find out soon how good a company Progressive is.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Considering the future cost of insurance after a claim you might come out better that way.
I can't imagine the frame is that bent for that type of accident.

i dont think of the following as "RESTRICTIONS" more like common sense & realistic, cant take it to work daily, the mall is out, etc.........not only for parades or shows, can cruise anywhere with no miles limmit, even leave it at a repair shop as long as it is "LOCKED UP INSIDE" but must must must have a clean record, and proof of an insurance policy for another auto. Car must be garaged / cheaper if at your home rather then storage facility. They are also very polite, easy to work with, and well versed with what they are doing, extreemly professional, & "NO" i'm NOT an employee
~ just a satisfied customer........AGREED VALUE ZERO DED ONLY WAY TO GO...........hard enough to get GEICO, ALLSTATE, STATE FARM , LIBERTY to pay on a "NORMAL CLAIM " i wouldnt trust any of them with a "SPECIALTY ITEM" just my thoughts........hope you make out a...ok........!!ZIXXXPACKER

Please explain.
Please explain.
Or you could give Hagerty a call, they will explain things alot better than getting a little bit from each person that feels like posting.

Please explain.
Driving to the "MALL" is one thing, leaving it there & going shopping is another, i don't care what state your in..........if it's hot ride it's not going to be there when you get out , and if your wondering where it is or where it went or what happened , you dont deserve collector insurance, stick with geico, state farm, & allstate, &&&&& PROGRESSIVE they allow you to leave your car anywhere !!! & look for an excuse not pay !!!![/B]

From what I have heard: The "do not leave unattended" issue has been modified, as going to a car show is leaving it unattended. Also, the "in your locked garage" has been modified in order for you to go to car shows more than a day away that last for more than a day.
A couple of them avoid the issue by stressing it is a "collector car", which traditionally means it sits in a collection, gets shown occasionally, maybe paraded some, and never gets normal driving duties. This lets them decide afterward what is or isn't collector use when you call for a claim.
Other than Jay Leno, when is the last time you saw someone taking a Duesenberg for a trip to the grocery or something similar. Jay Leno has so much money, if something happened, financially, it would be like you dropping a couple of pennies out of your pocket.
And the insurance would pay anyway. Can you imagine the Tonight Show monologue if they didn't?
One of the local shows I was at last year, one of the Cobra kit guys was talking about how his insurance hassled him over a fender bender when he was hit going into a K-Mart or WalMart or whatever. However, that is where the show was.
I know a guy who asked about taking his Corvette to visit his elderly parents on his regular trip once a week or every other week. Trip is something like 100 or 150 miles round trip. Insurance said that wasn't a leisure drive.
I know, not taking it to the mall is a bummer, after all, that's where Sears is.

A. Our limit of liability for a partial loss will be the lesser of the:
1. The actual cash value of the stolen or damaged property; or
2. The amount necessary to repair or replace the property; or
3. The maximum limit of liability shown in the declarations.
B. Our limit of liability for a total loss will be the amount shown for each scheduled classic car which is agreed to be the value of your covered auto.
Based on the above, I think I have an "agreed" value policy if a total loss (stolen and not recovered, etc.)

I don't see how that coulda bent the frame, unless it's rusted to hell, in which case it shouldn't be on the road anyways.
