Default correct date for a replacement Alternator

Hi, I have a 1972 SB vert.
I am looking at getting a date correct 1100950 alternator replacement for the generic alternator currently installed.

The body stamped date for the vert is 10th July 1972 with a engine stamped date of 25th June 1972.

Anybody know the date range for an alternator that would be considered correct for this car.

Thanks
Fred

Any date within 6 months of the build date found on the trim plate.

But just to clarify the date on the alternator needs to be PRIOR to the date on the car.

Thank you for the clarifications.

So the trim tag states L10 on a 1972 vert which is I believe is July 10th 1972.

So in theory I can go back as far as January 10th 1972 for a correct alternator.

Could I go a late as July 10th 1972 for the alternator even though the engine block is stamped June 25th 1972.

Thanks

Not really, that would be saying the alt was built on the same day as the car....and that would not be possible. So I would want my alt date to be at least a couple of weeks prior to my car's build date but within that 6 month window. As an example my 71's build date is May 26th 71 (J26) and my alt date is March 8th 71 (1C8)....and my engine assembly date is May 17th 71. The alt is installed on or about the car's build date.
