Default I Passed Smog!

I'm good for another 2 years now. Anyone need a slightly used catalytic converter?

Seriously, I put a TON of effort into making sure that everything would be fine. I even tested my EGR valve. Truthfully, how many of you even know where your EGR valve is located.

Here are the numbers:

HC CO NO
15 MPH 51 0.23 122
25 MPH 39 0.13 179

Not bad for a more or less stock L81 with 90k miles.

Only negative was that the "Check Engine" light came on briefly on the way home. I've got to get the timing back to 12 or so before it gets unhappy.

I know the feeling. Had to fight it here in CO too. Not as stringent as where you are at though. Had to reinstall smog pump and injectors. Could get by without EGR. You have to have all parts as originally installed (not orignal parts) but all emissions features, right?

Congrats.

That's the intent of the rules. Around here all old cars get sent to a "test only" smog place and they check it over pretty thoroughly. He gave me a little trouble over the fit of some of my vacuum hoses (I think that I have a wrong sized T and all three hoses come off fairly easily) but he missed the smog tube to the cat, which is a piece of conduit with hoses used to connect to the cat with hose clamps.

He also noticed that I set the timing with the advance plug in (oops) but he let me adjust it to get the pass.

Congrats Mike! Around these parts, seems like every time an older car passes, it's cause for I know I'm holding my breath each time I get my truck smogged(TPI 383 in an 84 GMC)

Did they say anything about your new trans? There was a thread posted earlier about smog and the 200R4 someone was planning on installing in an 80 Vette

No, nor did I mention it. No reason to upset them.

He did notice the stall converter though. He thought that my tranny fluid might be low so I promised that I'd check when I got home.

I passed smog today too (as I flew into Atlanta ). Can't believe I used to live there. It looked like a rain cloud from the plane.
