I couldn't help it. Got the two old vettes thought i would just kinda look around for an old bike to go with them. Look what turned up 2 miles from my house. $1200. i mean what could i do. Do you think my wife will notice it in the garage?
Looks good... looks loud! I had an 1983 Suzuki GR650 but sold it a few months back. That particular bike was falling to pieces gradually (inline 2cyl vibrations...) and I wanted something more reliable and dare I say it, comfortable.
Hope it treats you well, looks great! Ride safe. (keep your brain in your head)

Nice one One of my fav *** bikes of the era & it's looking really good for its age. The handling wasn't great at speed but, if you're interested, it can be dramatically improved (most people fitted steering dampers, box section swing arms, etc). If a brace is welded to the rear of the steering head so that the other end can be bolted to the top of the engine (how you do it doesn't matter as long as it's rigid), the high speed handling will be dramatically improved. The problem with the old Zeds is that they tend to "nod their heads", so a brace stiffens them up.
And turn those custom headlamp brackets up the other way
I like it... ridden within it's limits it will be a blast... I cant have stuff like that because I cant leave it alone... it would have to have some lester mags and 1300cc bigbore kit and DFI from a late model sport bike and ohlins piggy backs and ....
HOW COOL!!! When I married my ex, she bought me a brand new '78 Kaw 1000cc LTD for a wedding presant. Looked very similar to yours. The LTD sat lower, and handled a bit better than the KZ. At only 5' 7"... lower also helped keep my feet flat on the ground
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Scary fast, for its time, the start of the very fast street bikes, I had a
'75 Z1, 900. Stock except for the baffles that I took out of the stock pipes, my Harley riding buddy's wouldnt ride with me anymore, I beat them regularly. Good luck with it, ride safe,,,,Peace,,,Moosie
that looks like a fun bike to ride. There are times when I need a quick run to the store, and getting the vette out of the garage takes more time than the actual store run. A bike would be a perfect thing to have.

I had a 76 900 and that thing was scary fast, the death wobble would kick in any where from 90 to 130mph, mine ended up snapping a telephone pole in half.
I had an 81 KZ100J1, breathed on it a bit, bumped the cams, 4x1 Kirker pipe, redrilled jets, raised needles, K&N filters, and it was scary fast, looked like them guys in the post above. Got an 86 HD FXRS now, Lots of rework and HP in it, its loud, fast, obnoxious and fast, but not like the Kow was. But then again, its a Harley

That's exactly what I ended up buying 86 FXRS, stock other than a set of bags so that I could bring a few tools to work when needed
