My Father is looking for another project car and wants a Pantera, so he calls a guy in Oklahoma and say "I have one in good condition and come on out and take a look" Dad says great I'll fly out there tomorrow. Well then he gets a call about 4 hours later and the guy is calling from hospital, because he took the car to the carwash and as he was pulling out, got creamed by another car.(thier fault) The seller on the other hand was still druged up and saying "it's not so bad do ya still want to come?" Then 10 min. later this guy's daughter calls and says "dad's alittle druged up from the crash, and don't bother coming out here, I don't know what dad is thinking the car was destoyed.." That suxs...

Geez. What an unfortunate series of events. I'm betting the Pantera hadn't even been hardly driven and the owner decided to sell. Takes it out to clean it for a perspective buyer and WHAMO.
Man that sux!!!! I hope the guys is okay and atleast the daughter called and your dad didn't waste a trip.Panteras are killer cars,i've always wanted one.
Wow, my dad had a '74 Pantera when I was in high school. Man I loved that car. It had a ton of customized work done to it. I wish I had some pictures. Oh well that had to suck getting hit in that car. Like a Corvette, there's not a whole lot to save you. That guy is lucky...........
My dad brought home a new '72 Pantera for 1 night (a GM company car) it was a bright yellowish green. I got stopped by the Birmingham, MI Police in a 25 mph zone for speeding (I was probably going 35). I explained the speedo was in kph only, which it was, and I didn't know how fast I was going. I remember the pedals were small and not much space for my feet and the shifter was gated like a Ferrari making power shifting nearly impossible. Power shifting was important for a 17 year old! But I remember the exhaust sounded great.

My neighbor around the corner has a Pantera sitting under a car cover and I have never seen it move. I did stop one day when the wife was in the yard and asked about it and she said they used to drive it to Pantera conventions in Las Vegas and all over the place. She said now her husband is to old to mess with it. I said could I look at it one day and she said anytime. If your dad is really interested PM me and I will be happy to take a look and see if they will sell it. I live out side Houston near NASA.
AHOOVER- How could a Pantera be a GM company car...Pantera is a Ford.......Looks like a Buick or Olds wagon in the driveway next to ot thouygh....

The auto companies did and still do evaluate other manufacturers vehicles. At that time a lot of different vehicles were available to engineers from the proving grounds by request . Lot's of cool stuff that I was fortunate enough to share.
Fastest I ever went in my life was in a "borrowed" Pantera from my girlfriends dad who owned a Lincoln Mercury dealer (Westgate) in Cicero,IL back in 1972. I miss her and the car .....
