Just received my SC Hooker Headers and Side Pipes (no inserts yet) from Jet Hot.
I won't be able to install them till around Thanksgiving.
Any pointers on installing them. Should I use car ramps or just floor jacks? I assuming I'll install from the bottom of the car?
There is an Airpump with tubes going into the stock header now, should I just remove it all?
How hard are the to mount to the side panels?
Thanks in Advance,
John

on most headers they go in through the bottom and you really need to get the car up high so the headers rotate into place.....it takes a while and then magically they slip in......on one of my sides i almost had the collector pointing to the front of the car inorder to rotate it into place
I haven't installed Hooker headers, but have done my share of Hedman's and others. I personally like 6 ton jack stands as opposed to ramps. The 6 ton stands let you get enough elevation without running the stem way up on the (3 ton) jack stands. Plus they leave you lots of rolling around room under the car that the ramps don't.
And if the Hookers go in like the Hedman's and others, you'll need some roll around room. They will fit, but you'll be trying about 1,000 different angles and dangles getting them in there. Usually the right (passenger) side is easiest. You have some steering components to work around on the other side.
I put Hooker sidemount headers and sidepipes on my 78 last year.I used jack stands you need to get the car up high enough to be able to rotate the headers around to get them in my son and I did it .You can do the passengers side by your self but it will take two people to put the drivers side in.Also when I put my side pipes on after I drove the car for a while I saw that the sidepipe where loose from where they mount to the frame .So I replaced the nuts with self locking nuts and have not had any problems since.
Did this one this high off the ground. It was plenty high. Don't go so high you can't reach the header bolts. I did not use the mounting holes on the frame
as they did not line up exactly level. I drilled a new hole in the frame on each side for the correct location.
