I used it to strip my 68 because the owner of a Corvette Body & Paint shop who has been in business for 27 years in my town told me to use it. This guy uses it on the Corvettes he repairs and he also owns several Vettes so I trust his opinion.
Paint job came out great.

There are 2 kinds of "Aircraft" brand stripper." The label on one type says "fiberglass" and the other label is for all other surfaces. Use the fiberglass label only on your Vette.

Looks like it's working, but I will try the other type at the paint store tomorrow. Hope I didn't hurt anything. I wiped everything down with Laquar thinner and then simple greened it with water to wash it off.

How does it come off? Scraper? Does it turn the old paint into gooey globs? If so, how do you handle the globs?

Sounds like you are thinkin' about the ****** body Len! With fiberglass you have to be dainty. Steel bodies are a lot easier to strip than glass, no need to worry about damaging the surface. Either type, cover up all the jams and openings, spread the correct aircraft stripper on, wait until the paint bubbles up (ggoey globs), and squegee or scrape the globs onto the floor with a plastic scraper for glass or a putty knife for steel. Wash glass with water, wipe the surface dry and sand it for steel.
Stripping these quarters was a waste of time and material, ended up replacing them.
is your car a gel coat ? if so just be careful like they said . be sure you have protection on especially eye's .I did my 72 with razor blades and it was very fast and easy if you use a holder and start with a twisting motion then just push straight . try not to dig in though.
or you will have to use a filler .
just a note my 72 was bare glass under the paint I'm not sure what year they started with gel coat but with bare glass you have to worry about the stripper sinking into the glass you may leave a small amount that will bite you big time if not removed completely before paint .
good look with the stripper .

Use Captain Lee's Auto Spra Strip.
It will remove the paint but not the primer so it never touches the fiberglass. Then you can sand off the primer which sands off much easier than the paint.

No Corvettes have ever had gelcoat from the factory.
The company that makes POR-15 also makes a product called PRO-Strip and they claim it to be safe on fiberglass. I have not used this product yet, but have used their frame paint and it works great. Here is the address: http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/ACCESS...1/Default.aspx
Sorry could not figure how to make it a link. They have the directions posted.
Seriously, I started using the stuff for corvettes sold by Ecklers.. I used gloves and was carefull, but some got on my legs (I was wearing shorts... DOH!) and it burns real good.. be carefull!
Nick (Vetmanic) has done lotsa comparisons of stripper and had some magic stuff that ate the paint but not the fiberglass or gelcoat - drop him a line and see what he's using.
