As far as I know the older vettes were never Australian issue, but if they were, they would have looked like the clear/amber/red as thats what all our other road cars look like.

Can you look around and see if you can find any of the lenses that have the amber in any catalogs there? I can't find anything from our catalogs here.

Probably yes so long as the overall diameter is similar, or larger.

I don't ever remember seeing any amber lenses in the parts book or the AIM or anywhere. Not sure what year the Amber Rule became the Euro spec but think it may have been fairly recent as in the last 20 years. The newer C5s (not sure about the C4s) used split rear lenses that the top half was red and the bottom half was amber so you still got that classic 4 red tailight look that all Corvettes should have, but never seen anything like that for the C3.

I know, that's why it's so wierd to see the amber colored lens on that member's C3, even if it is a light trick.

I think siome shoudl be made available by some of our supporting parts vendors seeing as we have many UK and Aus. members needed the amber signals.

Durango have you tried places like Grote Ind.and other lense companys. They used to sell sheets of the reflector surface material. That tailight lens assembly is just glued together. You could grind it apart and save the back of the housing where the bulb goes and the clear back up lens.Throw away the red reflector surface and cut a new one out of yellow and epoxy or glue the assembly back together. As far as the double bulb setup you could use several small bulbs around outside yellow ring to light it.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but since I do not need the amber lights and this was all a search for someone else...that seems a bit too far. Also, I believe that the guy needed the amber ones already has a plan to hack up his and cut and glue in an amber lens.

I thought it would be a LOT easier for someone to be able to buy a set of lenses already set up with amber. Thanks.

I don't think there is any way we could fade the lenses. But If we got them clear we could dye them.

They would be sorta cool though !!! Especially with that outer ring being only for the turn signal....you would have to rewire up at the brake switch and turn signal switch and run a seperate wire to the rear for the brake lights.OK thats all I need is another project

I like the idea too, but I would keep the center amber, and have it be the flashers, and delete the backups. Outer would be tail and brake, and inner amber would be signal. Four matching, two per side, opperating in unisen.

Actually, I didn't say I won't have ANY backup lights....just the lenses. I am working on a bar, mounting cross-ways from the muffler mounts. To that, on either side will be a small fog light, operated by a relay, switched by teh original reverse light wire. They will be out of view from driver's level, but will flood everything behind the car with a briight white light.

That sounds good but add an under dash momentary toggle for those idiots with their brights on.Give em a couple flashes so they will turn em down.

Good idea, but I really never have minded brights. I may add if for aux. use of some kind anyway, that has a dual purpose.

Bad day at the office? Default Amber Lenses

I hadn't thought about it but I have two cars, one is a '79 converted to RH drive with amber lenses and an original '72 BB Vert with the original tailights. Will have a look at the amber lenses when I get home from work and see if I can find a manufacturers name if you like.
Regards,
Chris

You only want the center part orange? Boiling water and rit dye may work. I don't know if the lenses would work but It's worth a try.

I took it as you implying that I was a liar whenever you said it keeps getting deeper. If that is not what you meant I appologize. I took offence because I have been on here for 6 years and don't want to have a reputation as being a liar (because that is not what I am). Like I said I haven't had my car out but one time in 2 years so I really can't remember the back end too well (although most of the people I used to drag race against could probably tell you better ). I'm sorry for getting defensive with you. My car is still a one owner car, my father and I never put the Corvette into my name for insurance purposes.
