Default Power window broke?

My driver side window is stuck down. I thought maybe it was the switch, but no. I think its the motor? It doesn't make any sounds like its triing to work or its stuck. I get nothing. Does anyone have any thoughts before a dive in and order a new motor? Thanks

pull the door panel and remove the service cover and check the plug connection at the motor it's very common they come loose or lose connection. The motor is grounded to the door so the switch sends power to one side (up) and the other side (down) .Also check the wiring inside the door that there are no bare wires on the harness grounding out the system.

Could be the connection. One way to check. When you hit the power up button do the lights dim?? If they dim motor is okay go to third paragraph. No dimming...check wiring and switch first.

Could be a break in a wire. Wiggle them around where they go from the car and through the door.

Other likely cause. Regulator spring helps the window up. If the spring breaks the motor is not strong enough to raise it. You'll know if its the spring. Once you have the door panel off you will find it broken at the bottom of the door. Spring is cheap but a bit of work to change.

Last thing is the motor. Keep in mind the motor seldomly goes.

Like JDp said, see if the motor is drawing when u hit the switch, do the lights dim or does the alt gauge drop? If so remove the door panel and on the bottom of the two tracks the window rides in there are "stops" so the window cant go too far down. Loosen them up with a socket and see if the window "pops". If it does then just raise the window and re-tighten the stops.

Mine did the same thing but stuck up. I have a 77 with manual locks and if I want to take off the door panels how do I take off the **** to get the door panels off? Is it just a screw driver to pop it off or more advanced? I'm new to cars so any detailed help would be great!

Are you talking about the round ****? I had a 77 bit of a pain to get at. Screw driver will do it...you need to push the panel in to create enough room. The clamp is "C" shaped. Push the bottom off then the top...little by little.
