What plans do you have for the motor when that part comes around
Motor (original)was rebuilt 13k ago, .30 over, new pistons, rings bearings and heads redone, runs great with 150 lbs all cylinders and 40 psi at idle.
For this go around I am just going to replace gaskets and seals . Transmission and rear end were quiet and smooth so I was thinking seals and gaskets for those too, swap clutch& pressure plate...however that could all change if I find anything during dissassembly.
I have a spare 350 4 bolt that was out of my El Camino I am thinking of rebuilding with a stroker kit some rainy day so I could put the numbers matching motor in mothballs. and have some tire smoking fun!

I like that stroker idea. When I replace my 350 with a 400, I'll hang on to my 350 for just that reason. It's a 2-bolt, but may still have some value as a stroker.
Maybe the body of a '79 is better balanced or something, but when I lifted my body with body straps, everything was much more level. However I slid the front straps as far forward as they would go, kind of next to the #2 body mount if I remember right.
Looks good!
Now the fun of degreasing and painting the frame and engine compartment begins! This was by far the most time consuming part of the whole project (well after waiting for parts to come in the mail).
Its seeing pictures of restored chassis like yours posted on the forum that help keep me motivated.
And they help guys like me, who have not done one, and may have to. I know this isn't my last Vette, and while it does not need a frame off, my next one might. This kind of info and these pics can be of great value when I tackle this years down the line.
Well, Time to go chip the ice off the old toolbox!
Dissassembly is going well. Thank goodness for air tools, cutoff wheels, impact gun and air chisel.
Its a good thing I took this car apart, when removing the brake lines one just broke without effort from corrosion, it surly would have failed in use...probably in the mountains!
I can hardly wait for this stuff to all be sandblasted and reassembly can begin. So far the numbers on trans and motor match
