Well, I suppose little progress has been made in returning anything to the corvette... but I've been pretty good at tearing more stuff out. I finally got part of the engine compartment painted, but just the wheel wells.

After getting so incredibly frustrated at scrubbing the firewall, scrubbing more, scrubbing scrubbing scrubbing, and scrubbing, sanding, sanding, scrubbing for weekend upon weekend and STILL finding grease in places I gave up on the firewall and just painted the wheel wells. I was pleased with the results:

I think that I'm just going to paint the firewall as well. I'm not sure if I really want to spend the time cleaning out the inner part of the fender to paint back there.

I then started ripping out the interior and quickly decided I will bite the bullet on new wiring harnesses for everything in the car. It's a MESS, and wires are randomly taped to each other

Of course I cracked the dash pad. Of course I didn't realize how much a new one costs. I also noticed the bottom of my driver's side windshield pillar has a bunch of rot. The inside portion of it is rotted, but the outside half is very sound. I'm hoping that's enough because I'm not keen on trying to repair and weld a windshield frame back together.

I've got piles of parts coming in and I should finally start putting the front end back in by the new year. I will be really happy to see a brand-new looking suspension and steering. After I get that done, all I have to do is put the (a new) interior back in, rewire everything, rebuild the rear end, rebuild the drivetrain, build up the 454, DIY a TKO-600, and I'll be on the road in no time! (or at least sometime this decade)

Don't you just love when the delivery guy shows up with four or five boxes under his arm and a big grin? That's the best part of my day man.
