Default New flares from Vanacor ?

Just called Vanacor today and asked if they sold the L88 flares for the rear only - I don't like the mudflap design that much but at least I don't have to buy all 4..... well, the lady told me that they have a new style flares, basically identical to the 2" mudflapps but tapered at the bottom (no mudflap).
They don't have a photo on their website yet.... the description sounded so good that I ordered a pair .... hope they look good

I always considered the flares with the mudflaps the ZL-1 flares, the flares that blend into the bottom of the fender are L88 flares.
So the flares vanacor are talking about have been around a while, I think ACI makes them, ecklers have them, as does F Gregg racing.

As you can see in these pictures, these are the "L88" flares.

I was told it's not like the L88 design, it's half a quarter panel just like the ZL1 style flares but without the mudflaps. Sounds almost too good to be true, I guess I'll see when I get them

They are $110 each - not bad at all compared to the L88 at $600/set.

Here's the ZL1 style:

Here's a quick Photoshop - if the flares look like this I'll be happy....

Oh ok, so the difference is in the mounting not the shape (a half panel instead of just the flare).
$110 each is very reasonable.

Not only that. The L88 flares are 4" wider than stock and the ZL1 only 2".
I really like the L88 flares but they're too wide for my tires/wheels I want to keep the stock aluminum wheels so my choice is basically limited to either shave down the L88 flares (yeah right, chop up some $600 flares) ....OR... make the cheaper ZL1 flares fit and get rid of the mudflaps ....

$110 is dirt-cheap.... I hope she didn't look at the wrong item when she told me the price

.... cant wait to see these flares

I think Twin Turbo took the ZL-1 flares and chopped the mud flap out of it.

I 've got a set of the regular L88 rears for mine from Vanacor. Excellent quality. Putting them on this winter. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You need to space the flares further outwards ? Need a spacer ? I think I have a 2x6 laying around somewhere

If they look stock I might buy them too. Then I can run late model rear tires.

Let me make sure I have this correct, L88 are 4" flares and would require a 11-12" rear wheel? ZL1 are only 2" and I could keep my current wheels and just add spacers. With 4" flares I could run 12" wheels with 335/18s on the rear with no problem? and I could move my current rear wheels (18x10 with 285s) to the front with no problem?

Another pic of a vette with flares:

I'm wanting to flair my car also. Planning on running 315/17's with 11 in wheels on the rear and 295/17's with 9 1/2 wheels on the front. It sounds like these new flairs will work on the rear, what do you all recomend for the front?
