Slamming would be fine in most cases, but I have seen damage caused by it too. To be careful, I just push mine down with a rag in my hands. No print, and no slamming.

I just raise it to release the catch and let it drop. It slams on its own.

I've seen problems...almost all related to the hood being slammed.

I used to slam it, until I got the new heads and intake installed. Now the intake is a little taller so the clearance between the air cleaner and the hood is 0 so I set it down then press down. I'd still slam it, if it had the stock manifold on.

It's just another debate. Up next, which is better? Medium or medium well?

See, that just goes back to adjustment. A properly adjusted door will close easily and gently. Mine used to take a good slam, but now with new hardware and all adjusted right they close like a dream.

Medium Well.

About the same height I let the weight of the hood slam itself.

Drop from about 6", if the latches are working right there shouldn't be any problems

I've never really given it that much thought. But on my driver Vettes, I tend to drop them from 8" or so. On my low mileage CE, I also sit it down and then use a detailing cloth on my hand while pushing it down gently to latch it.

Yup

I think this poll will be useless as you left out what seems to be the most popular option

I meant that you either set it down on the pins and push it closed manually (Option "no") or you drop it from some height and it latches (option "yes"). That was my intention.
