Default Do you slam your hood?

The recent post on the gas struts brough up an interesting side item. I was always told never to slam my hood. I always gently set it on the latch-pins and push each corner down with the palm of my hand. I used to slam the convertible decklid down until the latches got off, cracked the rail, and cost me big bucks to fix. Now it goes gently down as well.
