Do you slam your hood?
The recent post on the gas struts brough up an interesting side item. I was always told never to slam my hood. I always gently set it on the latch-pins and push each corner down with the palm of my hand. I used to slam the convertible decklid down until the latches got off, cracked the rail, and cost me big bucks to fix. Now it goes gently down as well.

I don't do either...I drop mine from a few inches.

I just went out and looked at mine and no cracks! I drop mine every time!
Not that far, but I do drop it.. No palm prints on my hood!

I have been dropping mine (78 Sa) from 8"-12" for 27 years..no problems at all...been doing same with the 69 for 12 months now....
Think this may be a record of sorts...

with a black car i always drop it the last few inches works no problem ,
but i have a new hood though or hand prints.

I drop it from about 10-12" anything less and it might not latch, anything more and people look at me like I am angry at sumptin

I drop mine from 6 or 8 inches, no problem. When I pulled it all apart and no cracks.
