I know that a lot of you are bike enthusiasts, so maybe you can help me/my boss.
My boss is going to be storing his Harley this winter. He said that he is thinking about a bubble and asked me about dehumidifiers. I had a cabin cruiser in a wet slip and used these during the winter. They are the bucket type and worked ok in the enclosed cabin.
Anyway's how do you guys store your bikes for the winter? What type of moisture protection do you use. Any tips?
Back when I had a great bike, that's where it lived.
the living room was also a paint shop for a few.
the coffee table made a great assembly table
the big dog only stays where it is dry .it also is not stored period.
it gets ridden year round. less in winter but no storage.
my shop is metal and concrete if the bike is out there i put it in the carpeted office to keep it dry . it never get's damp in the house garage .

Google...Silica Gel Dehumidifiers
I have a 2 foot long canister I use inside the bag that holds my Vette and one motorcycle. I heat it up in the oven and seal up the bag until spring...has worked fine for 15 years now! You can see the cylinder to the right of the cycle, it's standing on it's end.

I agree, but for the "More Tamed" of the Biker Culture, Follow the winter storage instructions in the factory shop manual. No factory shop manual? Wash and wax, heavy on the wax including chrome. Give the seat a leather treatment. Start the motor and get it to operating temp, change the oil. Take the battery out and give it to someone. Don't leave it in the bike. Pull the plugs and drop a spoon full of oil in the cylinders. Drain the fuel tank and carb, COMPLETELY. Leave the gas cap off for a couple of days to let it air out, put gas cap on.
He doesn't need a air bubble or any of that garbage. Just a JC Whitney bike cover. During the winter, he can go out, polish it over a beer, sit on it and put a fan in front of himself and the bike. Instant summer.
Final step.......Put a BIG FRIGGIN LOCK on it.

Put some DCON around the bike also. I rolled my FXRS out of the garage one Spring to start it and when it fired up a cloud of sunflower seeds came out of one of the pipes. Good thing for the mouse that it wasn't at home in the pipe when I started the engine.

Yep, thats the correct way. But not my way, I just leave them in the auto parts showroom and start them every once in a while. I also run a short lead wire from the battery with a with a removable wire end to charge the battery without removing the seat every time if the battery is low.
No storage for mine,, I ride it if the roads are dry, clean and the sun is shining, Once a month the battery gets trickled for a coupla days to keep it up if the weather doesnt allow a ride,,,, oh yeah, since I've "matured" I wont ride below 40* , the wind chill is a killer. Actually got caught in a snow storm once. Peace,,,Moosie
