Default 1980 drivetrain strength

I think I found a good 1980 4spd, but curious how strong the tranny, rear axle, differential etc. Say to put in a good 383 motor in that 400 to 425 hp and 400+ torque. I don't think the stock l48 is going to do much as far as smile factor for me compared to my LT4.

A rebuild to strengthen everything or purely to replace worn parts? Sorry to be nieve about late C3s. I've rebuilt quite a few cars but not familiar with the late C3s. Worried since the horsies are so low that maybe GM cheapened up some of the other drivetrain parts .
