last summer i bought a 74 vette from a co-workers friend and i did research on the # and found the stock HP to be at 195, i added a K&N air filter and to get me to roughly 200 HP, and i wanted to know if a goal of 100 added HP is too high of a goal WITHOUT adding a super charger, ive got some hooker headers and side pipes that are being powder coated and, again, i did some research and the minnimum HP added is %20 to put me at 240, i heard some people talking and they said "its not a muscle car unless its at 300+ HP" so thats my goal, unless its too far out there

Nope, I've heard 350+ HP = muscle car.
You cannot just total the "up to" HP gain numbers for bolt-on components and come up with a #. You're thinking like a ricer. My 190hp '75 with headers & air filter does not equal 240hp. It's still closer to 190hp. To boost (actual) HP, you must first do mechanical changes...heads, cams, intake, carb.

A cam is the traffic cop in an engine. You need to throw away that stock cam and get a good performance cam. Also bump compression. Good exhaust to get the exhaust out of the engine. Then a good performance tune and you should be in the neighborhood that you are looking for.
If you have the money, aftermarket alumn heads are a great add. If $'s is an issue, bump compression and may add larger valves to the stock heads.
i was going to try to make it to a number i think ive made it to , and purchace one of those in car comp. that total HP up to 1/100 precent acurate, and see where im at there, what would be a good addition to the intake, something like a "RAM air system"?
thanks for the replys tho! uve given me some GREAT ideas
thanks again!
(i LOVE being the only student at the high school with a corvette LOVE IT!!!)

i was looking at a preformance cam, and it said i would need other non-stock parts, bout how much do you think that would all cost, i assume theyre talking about valves, valve springs, push rods, ect ect, also how much are aluminum heads running, if i cant afford them wut else would be an apporpriate replacement?

i would doubt the K&N airfilter gave you 5 extra HP.....you need to add $$$ into heads, cam, headers free flow exhaust and then you will start seeing power increases
The 74 engines were probably running 8.5:1 or less compression ratio so no matter what you do to the top end you will be limited in the amount of HP that you can coax out of them. If you put in pistons that will increase the compression ratio you can take advantage of the performance gains offered by cams, intakes, etc.
Of course that means rebuilding the short block since you don't want to just throw in new pistons with old bearings. If you need machine work on the block due to damage and wear figure on spending extra $.
You might be better off in the long run if you remove the original engine and store it (provided it's a number-matching engine) and dropping in a new engine.
