I have both, the small and big powerball. The smaller ball works a lot better on the rims than the big ball. I'm not too happy with the metal polish that came with my powerball, mother's chrome polish works a lot better.
I apply the polish by hand (paper towel).

I use some stuff called way too easy.....or way2easy.....kinda got a grit to it......and works awesome.....I've compared half and half with this and the mothers.....went and bot my brother and he said the way2easy was shinier.....not knowing which was which.....

I have a cloth ball, but same basic thing though.....I usually just spread some on there with the ball and then get after it......here's some before and after pics!

exactly

You'll have that polish everywhere (including the ceiling if you do this in your garage) if you try to apply it with the ball.

I have 4 Vettes, All with alum wheels, Just spent all of last weekend doing wheels on Wife's 84. apply with fingers or rag and start to rub in. then hit it with the ball hard, if it go's dry apply more, again at least get it started by hand, then hit it with the ball, dont be afraid of a little force. then finish by hand and keep useing fresh rags to clean away all the black stuff. our black 77 is next, I CAN wait.

cool, thanks! the bottom two pics is with the way2easy...the top two are right when I bought the car after it set up for 3 years.....

I stand by that stuff cause it does a great job on older stuff that needs a good polish and works great on keeping things polished.....if you check out my cardomain on my grand prix.....the wheels look great!.....

mothers is great stuff too......polishing is some work!..specially going from dull to shine......takes a lot of time, but once they're shiney it doesn't take much to keep them up atleast!

if it's pretty bad you may need to get some steel wool or like a 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper.....worse comes to worse you can start with an 800-1000 grit and work your way to a 2000....

do the sand paper and then work you polish on the wheel....

later!
