This topic was started on another thread the other day and the pic below was posted. It got me thinking about doing some different things. I would like to get thoughts, ideas, pics of things ya'll have done to make your C3's (exterior or interior) stand out or look different.
I'll start with what came to mind from the pic. It looks to me like the rear of a 70-73 was grafted onto a 80-82 and the bumper humps were smoothed out. I really like the look but think the front doesn't match. I think it would look good with a C6 style front bumper and possably C6 tail lights. Any other thoughts?
Does anyone know if the old Motion Performance fastback window conversion for the pre-'78 C-3's is still available anywhere? This is the window like the old Phase III's had in the late '70's-early '80's. Kept the flying butresses, but increased luggage room. Was a look similar to the Opel GT back window, subtle, but looked natural. IMHO.
i'm still working on the door poppers.... and i just purchased some small side mirrors to post on the pillars........ i'f i dont like the pillar mirros, i'll get a new set of sport mirrors......
wish i had a garage to work in...... i would change a few things before the repaint.......bumperettes/etc..... man........maybe once i get the motor running i'll find a place for a month to make a few some changes
Being the one who had that picture...i like it, but i agree. I think the front needs shortened to match...a concept i've long toyed with but i just havent come up with a GOOD, classy way to do it without getting flamed and called rice by a purist. I was gonna cut the fenders at mid wheel well, and apply a 73 front end, but after i thought about it i sold the clip i bought to do this with to a guy here on the forum and said screw it...So, Still workin on it.
Hammerhead is slightly modded! You can't worry about being flamed too much. There will allways be someone who has different ideas. when you customize a car you make the changes that YOU want and don't cut corners or compromize your ideas. Most of the customs that look bad are that way because someone got in a hurry, lost interest and changed hands, ran out of money and settled for a less attractive mod,or got lazy.Bottomline is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.(Some eyes are 20/20,some are not.)
