Thats just it, whats my price,,12,11,10? I'd be happy with 10, its only insured for 9. I've probably got more than 12 in it now with the new motor. Come this spring I'll finish up the mark 8 fan with controller and throw in the rear sway bar then finish up the a/c and see if it sells. Maybe start at 11G and see what happens. If it doesnt sell I'm ready for another corvette summer. I still have to make it down to the shore for a visit though,

Not crazy about crossfire but you have to give and take a little. I would like a paint job eventually so figure 2500-3000 for that plus the bumpers another 1000 plus the 2004r another 1500. If I could get 9-10g for my car and maybe pick up what I'm looking for for lets say 12G wouldnt I be better off?
This is probably just frustration talking,
ESU

A 80-82 that is stock is not too easy to find, then you want it to be in as good condition as yours -> you will spend money...

Now, the issues with your car are 1) two bumpers and 2) the transmission

Two bumpers are $650 plus paint, maybe $1000 alltogether
The 200R is all over Ebay for $1400 shipped

IMO - if you sell your car, then buy a f.e. '81 you'll have spent more than $2500 by the time the '81 is as nice as your '79

A 1980-1982 Corvette with a great paintjob is either a very well taken care of original car (very expensive) or it was recently repainted.... that could be a cheap or a good paintjob....

Look at my recent threads - if you're stubborn (and cheap) enough you can paint your car at home. Stubbornness outweighs the lack of experience...

My garage definitley will not support an at home paint job, its an oversized closet. The guy who painted and repaired my current rear bumper , and did an excellent job by the way, has quoted me 2500-3000 depending on how much body work, stress cracks etc that are found. I'd be looking for an Unmolested original car, something bubba hasnt found. Not easy I know but it hasnt been easy putting this one back together either,

I know what your talking about....you want a vette you can get in and drive and enjoy (maybe take your wife for a ride in).....a car that when something breaks it's not because bubba f...it up. These type of cars can be pricy. I sold my 22K mi 82CE about 5 yrs ago for over 20K. Granted it was a CE but again that was 5 yrs ago. So if that's what you want be prepared to pay the price.

I gave $14,750 for her in Feb of 2004. She had 22K on the clock, paint is original and a 9 (maybe even a 9.5) out of 10. Interior is a 10. Very original car - I pulled the original plug wires off of her along with several other original wear parts - brakes/belts. I was also able to track down the original owner and have copies of titles/smog checks and CarFax to verify mileage and dates of title transfer - matches to the number/date so I'm very confident in the actual mileage.

Look at it this way - ball park numbers. I sold my first 2-tone car for $7,500 in 2003 (gave $5,500 for her in '98). Conservatively, it would of cost $2K for a motor rebuild (back to stock) and $4K for paint - again, back to stock. I'd already done the tranny but she needed other big $$ odds and ends; rear-end rebuild, rear wheel bearings, etc as she had over 150K on the clock so I figured another grand here - total $7K worth of work comes to $14,500...told I broke even on the trade !
