YOUR BLOCK WAS BUILT JULY 18TH

YOUR VIN LISTING FOR 68 IS AS FOLLOWS:

Mo. Serial #'s
Sept - 400905
Oct - .403410

Feb - 412647
Mar - 415000
April-417676
May - 420928
June - 423978
July - 428566

IT MATCHES WITH PRODUCTION DATES.......YOURS WAS A VERY LATE 68' ONLY 1004 CARS PRODUCED AFTER YOURS, MIGHT HAVE BEEN BUILT IN THE FINAL WEEK OF PRODUCTION, AS FROM JUNE TO JULY THE MADE 4588 UNITS THATS ABOUT 1000 PER WEEK.......BUT NEVER SAW A 68' WITH SO MANY 69' PARTS..........NICE TO HAVE MAP POCKETS ANYWAYS !!

CURIOUS WHAT YOUR VACUME CAN LOOKS LIKE IS IT 69' PIE PLATE STYLE OR EARLIER 68' CAN STYLE ?

Hi

This block is also 68 2nd design, so correct for 68 cars from about February build date onwards.

The heads are 69 modell, but should not have any VIN derivative, only head casting and casted date.

Your correct Gunther, just cast and IL.
Sixx, it had a L-88 hood with no wiper door at all,I put a 68 can on it.Oil fill is in the valve covers not the intake, I think the seats are 69,the latches are half way up the seats and both on the same side. You know the Cash song "Got it one piece at a time".I'm thinking thats what happened..

Hi

Oil fill is in the valve covers not the intake

Oil fill was only on 68 SB engines in the intake.
The BB engines all had it in the vlv cover.

seats are 69,the latches are half way up the seats

Can still be correct 68 seats, again 2nd design. Headrests where an option in 68.
69 all had headrests ( althought some early 69 are reported not to have them ? ).

OK, saw on the pics, no headrests, so 68 seats. Also the seat's texture is 68 style, not 69.

Günther
