Default door guides

Well I am at the point where I need to align my doors. My question is ...What type of door guides did they use on a '69 convertable?
I found a brass type wedge from a vendor, but it said that it was for a Coupe. By the way they are $56.00
Will these brass wedges also work on a convertable?
I also have no idea where the parts go(all the holes were filled in by previous owner), So a picture and measurments would be very helpful.
Thank to all who take the time to answer in advance
Thank You,
Sly

Get the '69 assembly instruction manual (AIM). It will list the guides, the original part numbers, and show you the factory installation. If there is a difference between coupe and convertible, that will be listed too. SOME of the guides were used on early cars and not used at all on the later cars. AIM will usually show the page deleted if they were discontinued and list a date for the deletion of the AIM page. If they were used on your car, there will be the appropriate holes for attaching them. If they were not originally on your car, there will be dimples where they attach in place of holes.

Some used plastic, some used brass, some used none. Coupes and convertibles differ too.

There are at least 2, and maybe 3 different brass ones that I've seen.

Good advice to check the AIM.

Also, there is the water deflector at the bottom of the door. As I recall, some have it, some don't. Will have to double check on that one.

The brass wedges are expensive. Don't know if anybody reproduces them. I looked for a long time at various Carlisle events till I found some. They ain't cheap at a flea market either, if the guy knows what he has, and most do. Chuck

Would I be safe in assuming then that they were discontinued 'cause they don't really do anything?? Sounds silly but I have heard stranger things.
Also...were they mounted on the door or the lock pillar? I have no holes or dimples to indicate where they go. Maybe a pic?????

Yes. Metal mounted on the door; plastic mounted on the pillar. When the door closed, metal was supposed to rub against the plastic. If you have no mounting holes in your doors or pillars, you could be safe in assuming your car didn't have them.
