Default Emblems refurbished [pics]

Amazing what a little paint stripper, model car paint and a toothpick can do.....

Now I wonder if I really want to drill two holes in the aluminum lid to mount the emblem

As good as that emblem looks on that fuel door I think I'd just mount it with some really thin double sided moulding tape untill I could really decide how I like it,,,but it do look good,,,,,Peace,,,Moosie

if you decide you want the lid w/out the emblem just peel it off.

Feels good to strip them down and put on fresh paint huh? When I did mine I was unsure of how they would look, but they turned out great.

I thought about glue but there are two studs on the back side of the gas door emblem
I would have to cut these off in order to get a flat surface for the glue....... then again.... the gas door is too thick anyways (studs too short to get a nut on the other side)....

I'm going to use glue, hopefully it's not coming off.....

They look great! RTV will do the trick for an adhesive and it is easily removed.

If you get the black and yellow tube of 3M, clear emblem adhesive you won't have any problems with it staying.

Mine didn't come out as nice when I repainted them. Now I have all new ones except for teh fuel door, which was the best one that was repainted. Some day I'll get around to replacing that one as well. Also the chrome on my emblems was in a lot worse shape than I thought.

They're so cheap these days on Ebay that sometimes it's easier to buy new ones than to mess with stripping and refurbishing them.
