Looks like alot of C3's are going with the LeMans Dark Blue Metallic (Code 019). Did you do yours in 3 stages (Gloss black, LeMans Blue, and then Clear)?
No I shot it over grey sealer - it came out little lighter than f.e. Jclgodale3's but the metal flakes that I added make it look different anyways. When the sun hits it it sparkles like crazy.....

I like it, and think it's a very unique color while still achieving the 'Pop' of that powerful blue. Top notch work in my honest opinion...especially for your FIRST paint job. Personally I would have practiced on a buddy's old beater pickup before shooting my Vette for a virgin job, but you pulled it off with bells on.
that looks just awesome & on your 1st attempt at painting, kudoos to you!
I have to admit, that my first paint job ended up VERY well. No major problems or mistakes. The two or three after that one had some big problems. It's funny how that worked...and I did my first one with a Harbor Freight gun.
I am not sure how GM paints this color, I read here that they shoot it over black. It makes sense to me because the color does not cover too well if sprayed over grey primer, it takes 4-5 coats to get it as dark as it should be.... I would tint the primer black or at least dark grey if I had to use this color again.
It's the same with HOK candy colors - different base, different effect - f.e. Brandywine looks different if sprayed over silver vs. gold....
That is correct. GM's Dark LeMans Metallic Blue is a premium paint when ordered. I believe it cost an extra $800 on new car (Cadillacs and Vettes). The extra cost is due to the 3 stage process instead of your typical two stage paint jobs (color and clear). The LeMans paint is almost transparent. This is why the black base coat is needed.

So with that blue it's, primer - black base - blue base - clear?
