Default Willcox Wheels?

Good morning folks! I'm looking at an interesting ebay ad from Willcox in Southern Indiana in regard to a full set of aluminum wheels for $700. New wheels - shipped from supplier to you. They don't maintain any inventory at their Jeffersonville, IN address. I had hoped to drive down to take a look at a set.

Has anyone in the forum purchased wheels from Willcox? Their ebay feedback overall is 99.9% with almost 9,000 transactions.

Thanks - GaryC - '78 Pace Car

I had some issues with them, bought over $2000 worth of parts from them prior to buying a speedo/tach lens. I asked them to personally inspect it before shipping to insure that I get a good part, I had problems with other vendors getting a part that wasn't defective. I get a tacky email back from them in large font telling me the part was inspected and good as anything GM sent out. I reply back explaining that thier email offended me, that as a repeat customer I was just asking for a simple request. They ended up blocking me as a future buyer on ebay.........thats my experience.

Buy at your own risk. I bought a hood insert for my LT-1 from them along with some other parts. It arrived with a MAJOR blem on the top of it. They said "That's the way they come from GM." I returned it and they sent another that was even worse! I returned it again, demanding they check it before sending, and finally got an acceptable one (not great, but acceptable).
THEY REFUSED TO PAY RETURN POSTAGE ON THEM!

I have had nothing but great experiences with them when purchasing over 3k worth of parts for my 72. When I do my next one they will be the first people I call.

Yes, the '78 Pace Car wheel is one of the styles that is in the ebay ad. I sure would like to see one before buying, but this may not be possible.

Go into ebay motors - pull up item #130063416734

Take care - GaryC - '78 Pace Car

Thanks to all for your feedback.

Gary,

I’m sorry, but to keep the cost of this item down, it only ships direct from the manufacturer. Corvette America is the Manufacturer of this wheel. Our shop has not installed the pace car version of this wheel, but if you want to send me an email to Willcox@Willcoxcorvette.com I will give you the name and phone number of a customer who we installed a set on for a 1978 car (non pace) wheel.

These wheels are perfect reproductions of the original wheels. My only complaint about the 78-79 wheel is that is just a little bit shinny over the original wheels which were almost a dull aluminum color. The 1978 pace wheels and the 80-82 wheels are perfect!

CoolShark…. Send me an email to the above address. I will have shipping send you another set of the hood inserts no charge as well as refund you the return shipping.

CoolShark…. I’m not familiar with your problem with the dash inserts! I’ve been out on medical leave off and on for the last two years.

I am familiar with the problem GM had on the inserts and the fact that they put out a bunch of bad painted inserts.

The first issue with the inserts from GM was a casting flaw in the insert that would not allow them to be installed correctly. Then they fixed the flaw and started painting them with crappy paint. At the time, this was all that was available and the only alternative to getting a perfect part would be to have re-painted the new part.

Now a reproduction is set is available and to my knowledge there is no casting flaws or paint issues with this product.

If sales would not return you shipping, I can fix this without a problem and apologize for the inconvenience. Figure a cost for the return and include this in your email.

This happened back on 7/27/04 (yes, I have a memory for things like this).
My invoice number is 053700 and your part number is 3929260. I do not remember the return shipping cost, which I paid twice (which was very irritating). I will have to pull it off and I will send it. If you replace it and reimburse shipping cost for this and the last two times, I will be satisfied.

I just purchased interior parts from Willcox and recieved a very nice email from them yesterday. So far my experience with them has been nothing but great. As I go through the process of restoring my car I will always go to them first.
