First off, I bought my car because I wanted something to drive and work on and it caught my eye and fit my budget. That said, there was one major thing that I hesitated over...non-original block.
Its a 73 L82 4 speed. I believe the heads are original (based on casting numbers and date codes) but the block is a 1975 truck block (I believe its a 4-bolt...I don't know what the casting number is). It seems as though the block was swapped and everything else was re-used.
Other than that, the car has OEM sidepipes and a non-original color (its a '72 color - Ontario Orange). Car has 91k miles and runs strong.
Any guess on what all this means for the value of the car?

Thanks to all!
73's didnt come with pipes, wrong color, wrong block, poor investment year to start with.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, BUILD IT, DRIVE IT, ENJOY IT, PERIOD !!!
We have an Ontario Orange 72. The color really grows on you after a while. Not having the original block lowers the collector value quite a bit but my advice is to build the car the way you want and enjoy it. Save any of the original parts that you remove for future owners. As long as you have the original parts you won't hurt the value of the car unless you hack it up with ricer wings, etc.

If you are wanting an NCRS/Bloomington Gold show car than this is a huge hit in value. Huge points deductions for replacement block, wrong color, and side pipes.
But for a fun driver, who cares. Drive it and enjoy it.
