72 Wiper Door Question
I'm reinstalling the wiper door assembly on my 72. The bolt holes on the wiper door are larger on one side than the other. The replacement bolts from all of the vendors only show one size which is the smaller of the two sized hols on my wiper door. I'm wondering if someone might have drilled the holes out to a larger size at some point. Any info would be appreciated.

I was afraid of that. I'm pretty sure that I can buy some bolts to make it work. One of the original bolts is broken off on the opposite side. I'm sure that I can extract it though. I've had good luck using bolt extractors from Sears. They make a small size that should work. Fortunately, this is the only thing that I have found on my car that was engineered by "Bubba".

I've taken a couple of wiper doors in the condition you describe to a local machine shop, and he charges me $40 (per door) to drill out and helicoil the bolt holes. Well worth it in my opinion.

I HAVE A GOOD WHITE DOOR WITH MOLDING FOR $190 SHIPPED IN U.S..tHE THREADS ARE IN MINT COND.TIM cELL 516-658-8863.Remember ,those helicoil need to be done on a jig, not by hand .They need to be perfecly aligned to hinge mounts so they do not bind up and the door opens smoothly.I just went through this headache.Trust me.Either send it to corvette central and have them do it or buy a new door and use anti-seize.Your call my door is ready for strip and paint,The molding has 2 small repairable dents.Thanks
