Default Dist problems

Hi All
Got a question for ya all my son has a 1964 vett. I know c2 but I belong to this c3 so I need to find out if anyone can help. We put a rebuilt 427 in and have a mallory dist. and burnt out the eye on it and a friend of his told him to put in a ignition box we did a A6 model and still wont start? Does anybody know how to hook up one of these? We took out the resistor on the firewall but thoes wires must go somewhere? how we got it is like the instructions say but the dist, only has 2 wires from the new box and the coil wire? isnt there some other wires that should go to the dist.? If anyone has any in put on this please let me know as it is driving us nuts.

If the eye of the Mallory is still burnt out and you have not replaced it what ever you do it will not work. The "box" is just a sender. It has to know when to send. The dist gives the box a signal and this is what fires it. If no signal from the dist nothing will work. Fix the eye in the dist and it should be working.

Default Dist. Problems

gordonm.

we have replaced the eye with a new one. So is the only thing that runs the dist. the coil wire? We have the 2 wires from the MSD box going to the coil and a red one to postive side of battery and the black wire to the negitive side of the battery as in the instructions, but the resistor that had several wires going to it a mechanic friend of his said to take the resistor out as the MSD box takes its place? I thought the dist. needed more wires to it than just the coil wire? no other wires are going to it and on the eye wires comming out of the dist. has 4 wires going no where? this dosent sound right to me but what do I know/// thats why I am here (haha) The wires that was on the resistor are going no where should they go some where?

Jeg's catalog has a link to MSD's website that has all the wiring diagrams for the MSD stuff.
