Default Restoration Questions

I have the motor and tranny out. The seats and carpet are out.

I am looking to lift the body up and off the chasis. I have the roll bar to cut out yet and I will have to figure out how to take the streerin apart...is there anything else? I just thought about the brake and throttle pedals.

Anyone know the best way to take the doors off to help lighten the load?

Any special things I need to consider before doing this, I am just planning on having 3-4 other guys come over and help lift it up and off the chasis. I know the body mounts will need to be undone but other then that?

I don't want to twist the body, but I was hoping the body would be sturdy enough to manage this way.

I plan to use the vette, once restored, for high speed road rally racing in Tx, Nm, Ar, and Canada. I want to disassemble the suspension and use what my dad started but refresh everything like the bushings...is there a COMPLETE a-z bushing kit I can buy...polyurathane of course.

I am going to get a new set of bilsteins for her and the frame, a-arms, and anything else I can get is going to be stripped and powder coated. The body will go to the shop for all new weather stripping, a repair on the fender, all new paint (staying with the designe it has, my dads creation) and new seals around the windows. I also have a couple of spots where water got under some interior panels near the windshield and caused rust I want fixed. I plan to order a new interior screw kit to replace all the stockers. I may also try to find new panels for some areas inside and I want to get all the gauges working again.

Then I need to put in a legal roll cage and put all the rest of the goodies back together...but back to the ? at hand....

Any ideas on the lifting of the body?

TIA.

Six folks can make the lift, plus you as supervising foreman. I wouldn't try it with only four.

So no concerns of the body flexing? Sounds good.

Anything I need to make sure I get unhooked that I might not think of?

Thanks again!

Things to Check:
Shifter/Shifter Boot
Brake Lines at Master Cylinder
Rear Tailight Wiring Fastened to Frame
Antenna Fastened to Frame
Clutch Linkage Through the Firewall
Emergency Brake Cable Throught the Console
Seat Belt Cables if car has a fiberglass floor pan
Ground Straps at DS #1 Body Mount and Antenna Plate

Leave the core support installed. Once body is off the car and onto whatever you set it on, make sure the front end is supported under the core support.

When you say core support what are you referring to?

Its an auto car so no clutch linkage, but I will need to get into the e-brake and the antenna area.

The support for the radiator core.
3 bolts each side to inner fender and 2 large bolts on bottom.

So basically up front in the nose area where the radiator use to sit? That makes sense to leave that so that the nose has some side to side support. Eventually I will take it off as many items are going to be sand blasted and powdercoated.
