Default First Ride Today (pics)

I got to take my first ride in my 77 today! New transmission, every thing almost finished! The only thing left is the dreaded under the hood detailing..

You need to take a few minutes and black out the little bumperettes and the exhaust pipes in the rear. The car looks great, but you need to cover up the overspary on the exhaust and black in the guards. (Just my opinion and observation).

It's a beautiful car though!! Congratulations!!!

I'm curious why you blanked out the tags on the back. Can't anyone see them anytime anyway? When you drive anywhere. When you park. At your house when they jog by? seems moot...what're they gonna do with it?

Anyway, I love that orange. Great job.

You are correct in that anyone could see your plates when you drive around, but a thief that was looking to steal your car would have to cross paths with you for that to happen. However, on the internet all one would have to do is brouse this forum looking at cars they might want to steal get the licensce plate run the DMV and come right to your house and take it. Like catching fish with dynomite it is easy pickings. So why not be safe and not open yourself as a potential target!

427SIXPACK I will be ny later this week to pick yours up! Just kidding!m

I believe it is better to be safe than sorry.

Anyone can follow you home as well.............but:

1. My car is not registered to my home address, so run my plate, knock yourself out !!

2. I live in a Gated Community with pretty tight security.

3. Your plate is available to anyone anytime your on the road.

4. My Pitt Bull that lives in the garage would make certain you would only have one arm left to shift with should you get that far. Not easy driving with one arm & no Power Steering !!

5. The Baretta that is on hand should you get past the PittBull, is loaded & ready for target practice.
I can't find a more exciting reason to blow your head off if i caught you in my garage.

6. It's insured for big money, so should you get so lucky as to pry it away, there will be a big enough insurance check to buy another one like it, or even better.

( Blocking Your plate In Photos Is Only Good If You Have None of The Above Available To You, & If You Have None Of The Above Available, Then You & Your Car Are In Trouble Anyway !!! )

DON'T BE SO PARANOID, ENJOY YOUR CAR & TAKE THE RIGHT PRECAUTIONS & USE COMMON SENSE. !!

SO DO YOU WANT MY ADDRESS ?

jlelec, I'm doing the underhood detailing of mine right now as this winters project. You're right, lying under the car on a cold garage floor, having dirt, rust and whatever else falling in your face is not fun. I've gotten most of the engine itself painted. That is the easy part I think. I still have to clean and paint the whole engine compartment when the engine itself is done.

The bad part is I have never done my 81 underhood. I guess I am going to have to plan a weekend for each and go for it. Stripping the outside of the 77 should have been worse, but I kinda enjoyed it. Send some pictures when you are done, it might give me some inspiration!
