Default hyper chip question

my first question to the forum as a vette owner-
the previous owner put a hyper chip in the 82 i brought. i understand it changes the shift of the transmission (shifts at a different rpm?)
also changes fuel regulation, (i have to use super unleaded?) and changes 'wot' timing. did a search on the forum, and couldn't get real clear answers as to what 'wot' timing is.

it also has an 85 fuel pump, for performance reasons, supposedly it will increase the pressure from 10psi? what pressure?

will this make a big difference in the performance in the car?
he says i can have the original if i want. should i? is there a big difference performance wise, and where is this 'chip' located?

i think thats enough for now. thanks

I would ask for the original back and keep it. Why? Because it is a spare for free. The chip is inside the ECM in the rear compartment.

the hyperchip helps with od lockup otherwise most have said its not worth the money .the 85 fuel pump does help .the 82 pump does not give you the pressure you need at wot [wide open throttle ].the 85 pump is for tuned port injection so it is a higher presure pump.check to see if the cat has been opened up or replaced .82s had a verry restrictive exhaust
