Default Exaust options

My 82 needs exaust manifolds and I am not sure which is the best way to go. I am putting a 4 barrel carb and intake on it instead of the injection system.

Question: Can I install stock exaust manifolds from a 79-81 or do I have to stay with manifolds from an 82? Or would it be better to just go with a set of headers?

??? 81 has the same shorty headers as the 82 and the earlier cast iron ram horns aren't too great either, why not keep what's there or get some decent full length headers.

When I bought the car it had a set of Hooker headers with the side pipes that I sold so I could put a full length system on the car. The car did not come with the stock manifolds.

Oh OK even better than as the stock stuff is well...not exactly performance material. Get some nice full length headers, maybe some hooker super comps and do the rest of the system from there.
