code 12 is constantly flashed, wether it's true or false. It's the most tricky one to diagnose because it's always set when you turn the key to on and there's no ign. signal. It's just how the system is set up.

Could be a lot of things. Do this let me know what you hear/see. Turn the key to on...do you hear the pump in the tank turn on for 2 seconds? Do you hear the injectors kick in a prime the system...once again a short burst identified by sound...you will hear the injectors. When you turn the key does the oil pressure on the guage climb? Pop the hood and remove the filter. When it finally does start do you see spray from the injectors. When it dies are the injectors still spraying or do the injectors stop spraying and then it dies.

Jim
Well I had the same problem...Do what is quoted above and repalce the fuel filter. If you dont hear the pump, then repalce it. It is an easy fix takes about 30-45 min and about $50. While you have the sending unit out. drain the tank and wipe it out with a damp sponge to get the 25 years worth of gunk out of the tank. I found all kinds of trash in my tank when I did this then she fired right up.

I'm scared to think what's in my tank. Some Bubba even cut out the flapper. I just have a hole.

code 12 is the normal ... it will flash 3 times then other codes will flash after that if stored..

You got good fuel psi / strong spark .. i would look @ a ign switch problem or some other elec gremln!!

Yes, code 12 is "normal" because that's how the system is designed (it stores codes even when the engine is not running, otherwise it would not trip a code at all when the ignition is turned on and engine not running -> no crank signal), but it is a valid code. If there are NO other codes stored the CEL will continuously flash code 12.
