Leaking Break Caliper
Why do brake calipers tend to leak after car has been sitting a month or so without being driven?
Is this something these old style calipers just do?
Mine has started leaking up front after not being driven for abour two months. Running down on the inside of the wheel and tire.

don't know why but they all do, I had to rebuild my rear after I purchased the car. the owner said its been sitting for 5 months..........lucky I didn't have to rebuild the front too....

If they have ever been honed even slightly, the fit will let the leak, or just old age. Dot 3 draws moisture, causes corrosion, pitting, rusting, I replaced mine at 24k, eight years ago, put in stainless sleeved calipers, new pistons, . All four were leaking, it was a mess. Put in Dot 5. Doesn't draw moisture. Haven't had any problems since. Worked for me. cheeerzzzzzz
