5 nipple window washer pump diagrams?
My washer bottle and hoses, except on the wiper arms, are missing. Can't quite figure how 5 hoses should work. Anybody know or have a diagram? I will replace bottle etc...
Thanks, Glenn

just a suggestion (if you don't have a shop manual or an AIM to take a peek at), check on doctor rebuild or corvette central's sites. they usually have some copies of the shop documents in their product descriptions. it would at least provide a start without your own manuals.

2 for the headlights
2 for the wipers

Chevy quit putting the headlight washers on sometime in 1970, I think. But the build process went ahead with all the other parts...even to putting in some of the un-connected hoses. The bottom 2 outlets on the washer pump are for the headlight washers. Just put a short jumper hose from one nipple to the other to make them non-functional.

I thought all 70 corvettes had this. I know they still used the pump, but no headlight washers in early 71. My vette is a late car. I think it is the 17,106th one made and it had headlight washers.

I thought this was an option, there are no holes drilled in my bezzles where they would have mounted. How would the factory have blocked the two nipples not being used?

Larry,
Your understanding of the headlight washer system is correct. This was standard equipment on 1969, 1970, and early 1971 Corvettes.
Depending upon when in 1971 a Corvette was produced, the system may be fully functional (on very early cars) or may have various parts of the system installed. If I recall correctly, the first thing to go was the headlight nozzles, then the headlight bezels with the holes (it is not uncommon to find early 1971 Corvettes with one or both of the bezels with the mounting holes), then the five port pump (a jumper line between two nozzles on the pump), and finally the hoses for the headlight washers (which are cut off front and rear, the remaining section still taped in the vacuum line harness).
My own 1971 Corvette is a 12,000 VIN and still has the cut off hoses for the washers.
Glenn,
This would have been standard equipment on your 1970. It is very possible that the bezels on your car have been replaced or filled in.
The factory simply ran a hose (approximately 3" long) between two of the nozzles.

Stan, thanks for the info. I'll check my bezzles. I had them off last month and they seen very old. The original screws on the cover are sheared off in the original holes due to age & rust and someone made new holes off center to keep them in place. I guess at some point I'll need to do a rebuild with new headlight covers, washer nozzles and so on. Those headlight covers are expensive to replace!
