i've been a member for a relatively short time, but i've seen many really weird problems come across the tech forum, most with well informed and thought out answers. but what i don't usually see is which answer solves the problem.
what we need is a stump the chump type of feed back like click and clack have on the radio.
i think it should be a policy that when (if ever) these problems are solved, the owner should post his results. maybe the first person to offer correct advise would get a special emblem next to his name( and just the opposite-the person with the worst advise gets a booby prize of some sort!).
I'd have to say the correct answer is... 24...as in "Case of Beer"
On a serious note: In my experience with reading this Forum, I've found every opinion extremely informative. Even when the opinions are different!!...I don't think there is a specific "Right" answer to any given problem with only a written description and not being able to see "Hands ON".
Every opinion offered is usually based on individual experience. The member originally seeking advice ends up with several options to help solve his particular problem. For the rest of us, it provides valuable insight which most likely will come in "handy" one day.
Okay...Chump Stumpers...try this one on for the FIRST real challenge: How do I keep my wife off my a** while I am working on my vette??
Seems that everytime I head to the garage with that glazed-donut look in my eyes she comes up with "something/anything" to divert my attention in a direction away from my car....AND I ain't talkin 'bout sex. HELP??

I start to spray paint something. She hates the smell.
ask her to pose naked on the hood of your C3 so you can take a picture and post it on the "WIFES" thread. that should scare her off. If not, we'd really like you to post the pic.

I see no need for this type of competition. Why should someone with a question be labeled a "chump"? Why should a forum member with the "worst advice" get a booby prize? A "worst advice" answer to a question is likely to mean nothing more than the respondee did not understand the poster's situation. Let's face it, on several of the problem posts, it takes a bit of amateur detective work to determine what the real problem is.

I don't really care much for the idea of a reward or recognition system for offering advice that proves to solve a problem. However, it makes sense that when someone poses a question and a member diagnoses the fix the original poster should acknowledge it and let everyone else know what the resolution was. I have seen technical questions posed and many possiible resolutions offered and the original poster is never heard from again
